Q: I’m always looking for books and movies to check out. How do I start getting recommendations?
A: Find other users or library staff with similar tastes, in your areas of interest, and “follow” them. People you follow are other library members whose opinions you value on specific topics, such as knitting, Irish fiction or Indian cooking. You can start finding people to follow by looking for titles you particularly enjoyed, and seeing if others also commented on them positively. If someone left a positive comment, point to their username (tap on a tablet or smartphone), and then click Follow.
Q: Who decides what gets recommended to me?
A: In effect, you do. By choosing people with similar interest, you get a customized “feed” of everything they rate, comment on, add to a list, or add to a shelf. The titles appear in your Newsfeed.
Q: OK, now I have some books in my Newsfeed. Why?
A: Someone you follow has added a rating, comment, other type of content to a shared item on one of their shelves.
